Gemini in October 2008

gemini in october

general

The tension between your personal, intimate life and your public, visible self reaches a new level of intensity this month, Twins. You’re trying so hard to hold it all together—you’re working the level-headed, impartial approach for all it’s worth—but it’s all coming apart anyway. What in the world are you going to do?

First of all, relax. It may seem as if you’re being pulled in completely contradictory directions by some very powerful forces, but even this will pass. Don't forget to breathe, remember?

Everyone is edgy at the moment, and even the people you rely on most seem unpredictable, manipulative, and dissembling. Well, that’s because they are, to a certain extent. We’re all facing huge changes, and it’s easy to temporarily slip into survival mode. Each of your nearest and dearest will express survival mode differently, but the raw “fight or flight” response is rarely pretty in action.

You’ve been so busy being the cool, logical, unflappable one, but is it working? It might be time to back up, and tell ‘em all how badly they’ve been hurting you with their push-me-pull-you behavior. This might not work, either, I’m afraid, not in the short term—but it’s more for your benefit than theirs. Don’t give up your sensitivity, your vulnerability, your heart in all this; you’re going to need it again soon.

sex life

No matter what your gender, orientation, or lifestyle, women play a prominent role this month. You’ve got the full spectrum—from the cool ice princess to the sultry seductress, from the nurturing maternal figure to the deranged harpy from hell—and they all seem to have something to say about your sex life.

I never thought I’d say this, but it’s a brilliant time for evasive tactics, especially before the Full Moon of the 14th. It doesn’t matter if these women are colleagues, lovers, potential lovers, friends with good advice, or family members with your so-called best interests in mind; simply refuse to take sides. Anything you say can and will be held against you, with short, sharp, extreme prejudice.

After the 15th or 16th, you can open up a little more; in fact, you probably should. The wind shifts, astrologically speaking, and your favorite girl, gal pals, or confidantes will be back to normal. In fact, one or two of them hold pivotal clues to your current love life conundrum—and the only way to get to these clues is through relatively intimate one-on-one conversation.

Should be interesting, huh?

public life

Despite ongoing tensions between work and home life, this is a good month on the job. Business picks up; you may be busier than you’d like to be, but you certainly won’t be bored. Watch out for minor disagreements with co-workers, especially in the first ten days or so.

Keep an eye on that rebellious streak of yours. It’s really your social life in the broader sense that may be an issue; there’s no need to be disruptive just for the hell of it, and I have a feeling you’ll know the difference between being contrary for good reason and doing it just because it’s fun. If you do it, make sure it counts.

Don’t make any new deals, though, not until November—Mercury’s still retrograde. This month is better used to collect on old debts, an activity that will yield better results than you may think.
