Cancer in August 2008

cancer, the crab

june 22 -- july 22

cancer in august

In case you didn’t know, the sign of Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Also, in case you didn’t know, the Moon will be involved in a pair of eclipses this month. You can read more detail about them here, but the basic facts are: solar eclipse at New Moon in Leo on August 1, and lunar eclipse at Full Moon in Leo/Aquarius on August 16.

What does that mean for the Moon-sensitive Crab?

The Moon’s cycle affects you more than most—this is true whether you’re a Cancer Sun, Ascendant, or Moon—and eclipses are potent points in the lunar cycle. Eclipses are somewhat unpredictable, and it’s hard to say exactly what will happen, or indeed if anything overt will happen at all.

(If you’re truly intrigued, I suggest pinpointing the exact natal house of your personal chart into which the eclipses will fall; this will give you a more specific idea of the possibilities. You can view and print a natal chart at http://www.astro.com/ )

Generally speaking, though, this pair falls in the solar sector of your chart that deals with money, possessions, and other people’s resources. Oh, and sex. Oh, and death. In other words, these two supercharged Moons will land in areas that we don’t usually discuss in polite company.

Whatever the eclipses dredge up may be uncomfortable. It could be news related to money or taxes, such as an old loan called in, or a surprise audit. It could be news related to a close partner’s sexual or reproductive health. It could be news related to a will or an insurance settlement. It could be anything, really—eclipses are difficult to predict, remember—but it’ll probably be surprising.

The odds on startling messages are shortened by several planets opposing Uranus in Pisces from Virgo, who rules your news and communication house. It may be one of those months when unexpected news flies like snow in a Minnesota blizzard.

It'll be tough to keep your balance, but keep in mind that you have support. Shocking as Uranus in Pisces has been for you over the past few years, it’s still in a nice trine to your sign. This means that once the dust settles and you find your feet again, you’ll be freer, stronger, and ultimately better off than you were before.
Remember that eclipses are also strong indicators of new beginnings. Where do you most need a fresh start?

Good Things: Jupiter is still offering opportunities through partnership, and there could be some firm, positive developments in an ongoing partnership-related matter near the end of the month.

Sex Life: There’s still a lot of behind-the-scenes intensity here; you’re in a healing phase. Try to roll with whatever comes up, but do your best to stay real. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is-- that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, but unconscious messages coming from the Assumptions and Expectations Department are very iffy for you right now.
